United Nations Association of Russia


United Nations Association of Russia is an international non-governmental organization, established in 1956, which has a special relationship with the United Nations.


The organization from the very beginning of its activity declared to support the United Nations, which, as defined in the Charter of the United Nations, especially the maintenance of peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character, to promote and encourage respect for human rights. An important focus of the Association is a youth program.


One of the well-known programs of the Association is the Model of the United Nations, the youth movement, which brings together thousands of young people in the world who are interested in international relations and the history of which in Russia is for more than 25 years. In 1956, the UNA-Russia became member of the World Federation of UN Associations. Today, this unique international non- governmental organization, which aim is to support the UN, includes more than a hundred national associations.


In 1998, the UNA-Russia has been awarded General Consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council.
